SEL4IA exists to support building capacity for schools and districts to sustain SEL practices by advocating for legislation, building local and statewide awareness and promoting community to ensure equitable outcomes for students across Iowa.
We envision a world where all schools and youth-serving organizations are centers of safe, caring and supportive activity where youth and adults are empathetic, resilient, civically engaged and culturally aware and responsive, and develop the skills to solve problems, manage emotions and form positive relationships with others.
The Social Emotional Learning Alliance of Iowa, SEL4IA, is a statewide organization of educators just like you and your team. SEL4IA exists to support building capacity for schools and districts to sustain SEL practices by advocating for legislation, building local and statewide awareness and promoting community to ensure equitable outcomes for students across Iowa. Our team has a collective passion around social emotional learning and helping educators across the state. The best thing about us is that we are in the field with you, working with kids every single day. We aren’t coming at you with theories and practices that aren’t sustainable because we are implementing this work ourselves. We get it, we go through what you go through and we are here to help!
Focus Area 1: Why SEL?
We work with buildings on understanding the importance of social emotional learning.
Focus Area 2: Adult SEL
Most schools focus heavily on SEL for students and forget that adults need social emotional supports too. We can help schools understand this and embed this into your every day.
Focus Area 3: SEL101 for Instructional Design
Explicit SEL and SEL integrated into the academic day are important to sustainable impact. Let SEL4IA help your school or district with what this looks like for yo.
Focus Area 4: Data Based Decisions with SEL
Using data to make building and classroom decisions is important to any work, including SEL. SEL4IA can work with your building or district on what this means for you.
Focus Area 5: Family and Community Partnerships
Integrating families and community into SEL makes SEL sustainable. SEL4IA can work with your district on ways to do this more frequently!
